For many in South Florida, November 20 will be remembered as “the day the music died.” At 6am Saturday morning, 11/20/10, WHDR 93 ROCK flipped formats to 93.1FM, “South Florida’s Official Holiday Music Station.”
At this time, Cox Media Group Miami does not know (or will not say) what 93.1 will transition to after the holidays, or when that transition will happen. They do claim that the new format “will be an Adult-targeted station, and that this new format has been heavily researched and will be aggressively marketed with a massive marketing launch.” So, they do know it will be adult-targeted and they do know it has been heavily researched, and they do know it will be heavily promoted. But no idea what the format, or language, will be… Right, until then, jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
