Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. (SBS) (NASDAQ: SBSA) announced the official launch of Cima 106.3FM, a radio station programmed to reach the Colombian community of South Florida.

On Saturday, April 23 at 12 am, one of SBS’s South Florida radio stations,  WRAZ-LA RAZA 106.3FM,  became  WRAZ- Cima 106.3FM, changing  its  music format  to  pure “Cumbia and Vallenato”, the tropical music genres  that capture the essence and the musical traditions of Colombia and its people. Colombians are the second largest Hispanic community in South Florida.

Jesus Salas, executive vice president of programming for SBS, said:  “Although the format and programming will be directed to Colombians, we are certain that we will also receive great acceptance from other communities who love this genre of music; many of the interpreters of these rhythms, are also very popular throughout Latin America. This change reflects our desire to fill a musical void  in the Colombian community, and in the rest of  the lovers of these genres of music,  with the best in Cumbia  and Vallenato;  at the same time, we are building a musical and cultural bridge between  the different regions of Colombia,  and the Colombian community residing in South Florida. ”

SBS will soon announce further developments on the new radio station, including the personalities hosting the different shows.  Cima 106.3FM reaches listeners from a vast territory- Miami-Dade County to the Florida Keys.

Jackie Nosti-Cambo, SBS Forensic Operation Manager & Executive VP/GM Miami  and New York Radio Stations,  added: “It is a privilege and an honor for SBS to reach musically, the diverse communities representing Hispanics residing in South Florida,  through its four radio stations: Romance 106.7FM, 92.3FM Classic, El Zol 95.7FM,  and  now also  with  Cima 106.3FM.”
