As noted on the highlighted attachment, the email address is not our email address. Our email address ends in WSVN.COM, the fraudulent email ends in WSVLN.COM. Please note again that NONE of our payment methods, remittance addresses or banking information has changed.

WSVN Sunbeam Television phishing attempt

In last week’s episode, WSVN Sunbeam Television alerted legitimate clients that a phising attacker had succeeded in getting a client data set including client email/phone and account balance information. And now, I have received an email from the attackers, attempting to divert legitimate payments from WSVN Sunbeam to the attackers @WSVLN.com:

Could you please check if you have any open invoice payable to us as accounting is still not able to get onto the server or into Oracle to review accounts or post payments that may have been received.

WSVN Sunbeam Television Data Breach

We value your business and respect the privacy of your information, which is why, as a precautionary measure, we are writing to let you know about an inadvertent disclosure of information. On October 26, 2022, our client email/phone list and account balance report was sent to an unauthorized individual who used false pretenses to obtain the information. The data sent did not include any of your corporate financial data, such as banking account information or employer identification numbers and did not contain any personal data of any kind.

iHeart is promoting their AdBuilder as a system that allows clients to create campaigns “without any back and forth with a salesperson.”

Media Sales careers are endangered as more and more business goes online and “self-serve.” Of course, these are the people who also get the client’s name wrong in their own blog post….

Political SPAM on WhatsApp?

From the looks of it, someone had created a Group on WhatsApp focused on the Glyphosphate-in-Cereal story and added about 1,500 mostly Florida phone numbers to the group. Mine was one of those phone numbers. I took a look, and what do I see? Someone was posting political ad material in support of Mike Mirabal for County Judge…

CBS & Beasley swap Tampa, Miami stations

Beasley entered into an asset exchange agreement with CBS Radio whereby Beasley will exchange five stations in Philadelphia and Miami; WKIS, WQAM and WPOW, for fourteen CBS Radio stations in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Charlotte and Philadelphia.

Clear Channel Becomes iHeartMedia

In a windfall to business card printers across the country, Clear Channel has changed it’s name to iHeartMedia. From the press release:

Adding to the confusion, iHeartMedia is actually a holding company for iHeartCommunications. Outdoor will continue using the Clear Channel name, even though “clear channel” is originally a technical term in radio broadcasting.

America CV names Donny Hudson EVP of Sales
